Tess Scherkenback is a twenty-one-year-old college student studying politics and government. She is a dedicated musician and is also pursuing a minor in music, specializing in classical piano and vocal performance. She is active in a variety of groups and organizations at her university, and enjoys living in southern California where she goes to school. Like any normal college student, much of her time is devoted to academics, but she continues her involvement in ministry and helping those in need.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
~2 Timothy 1:7~
For the past six years, my family and I have been pursuing spiritual warfare training under the DWJD ministry, and Reverend Larson. My sister and I both knew when we began training that this was no easy undertaking, but persisted in Healing and Deliverance study because we recognized the powerful witness we could be for Christ. With so many hurting people in the world, we understood that many suffer spiritual oppression, and we seized upon this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to serve God, and set the captives free!
It has often been said that “one person can’t make a difference,” but I beg to differ. I cling to the promise of Luke 1:37, “For with God nothing will be impossible,” and I have witnessed first hand the powerful truth of this scripture. Only through the power of God, and in the name of Jesus could a twenty-one-year-old, young woman successfully cast out demons! Christ himself was but one man, and yet his impact upon this world was unprecedented. My life goal is to serve Him wholeheartedly in whatever work He calls me to.
“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is Life, fight for it!”
